Printing on my OCN ducky special edition wearing off. Is this normal? - Page 5

I agree it is a bummer, the filler paint on my Ducky "lazer etched PBT" feels pretty soft, it looked like it can be scratched off with my nails if I want to. If this is normal, I guess those cheapo pad printed keyboard aren't . I could easily use them for a year and they would still look perfectly new. Even though the etching will still remain, at the price I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a bit more.

I once had a review sample of a KBC Poker with those black-on-black PBT keycaps. I noticed that they scratched quite easily too. Again, would expect a little more.

That said, Topres have a similar enough problem on their black keys. At least the high quality keycaps come as standard

Now that it is mentioned, I noticed that my less than a week old Ducky's Q, W and D already looked worn from playing FPS. Now I guess the only way to make the keys look uniform would be to put a different keycap at W every time I play.

Maybe you should have spent another 100 dollars for quality keycaps.

In all seriousness, I have had this g11 rubber dome for 3 years without the keys even remotely faded at all. I'm not sure why it happens as much as it does with the mechanical keycaps.

I ordered the xarmor to try out mechanical boards, didn't want to spend a fortune on them just yet.

One of the reasons I went with blank key caps for my Das. So much talk about the lettering wearing off I just avoided it altogether.

Yeah, but you shouldn't have to omit key legends because the keyboard uses a worse printing technique than one only a fraction of the price. This is the sort of thing that happens when an entirely over-hyped and over-priced series of products becomes to be viewed as the top of the line in their particular field.

While we are at this topic, does any one know of any source for good key caps?

Signature Plastics custom makes double shot keycaps however they are thing and that can make your keyboard feel cheap. Honestly beyond that just look at different companies replacement keycaps, most will fit on a standard mech keyboard.

You can always get good quality Cherry Corp double shots, though you need to buy a number of donor boards (G80s or G81 with H in their designator) in order to get all 104 keys.

I bought a engraved PBT set from TankGuys. Unfortunately they are now sold out.

Review here.
