Gigabyte GTX560Ti Problem

This is probably a rather ignorant question, but I still need to ask.confused.gif

I have noticed that since I have installed my GTX560Ti, I seem to have some display issues. I notice in WoW that I can see some flicker in the trees and on the ground as I run, a problem I never seemed to have with my previous HD4850 or my 8600GTS OC2. I really noticed it this morning when I tried to play RIFT for the first time. Right off the bat it told me that my drivers were out of date which is totally wrong because I just got the new 270 family of drivers from Nvidia. Everything was fine for a while and then the screen would start to act up and put things on the ground that werent there, or raise the ground a little or make textures look funny. I tried messing with in game stuff to no avail. I then went on the RIFT support site and found that the GeForce 500 series is not even supported by the game, I also checked on WoW's website and found too that it does not support the GeForce 500 series. Question: Is this probably where my display issues are coming from? Another question: Is there any way i can fix this issue without taking out the higher quality card ( maybe trying some GTX460 drivers???), or do I have to wait and pray that both of those games provide support for the GTX560Ti? Or is this a whole other problem I am overlooking??confused.gif

Thanks for the help in advance, I hope one of you can save me a few strands or hair before I pull it all out!gunner2.gif

Thanks again.

It sounds like your card is showing artifacts, is it OC'd at all?

I'm not sure what gave you this impression, but 500 series cards should work fine in both of those games. Nvidia has provided driver support for both for a while now.

The card is only OC'd by Gigabyte, I haven't taken it any further that how it came outta the box. Should I try to turn it down to stock?

This has happened before, and the last time I did all my window's updates and reloaded my drivers and everything seemed to work fine, it didn't act up until this morning. Should I try and go back to the drivers on my CD that came with card maybe (Vers. 266.44 I think is what it is ) I am just at my wits end because this keeps happening and I wish it wouldn't cuz my 560Ti is sick, but if it doesn't do what I need it to then it is basically useless to me.

On the other hand, you think maybe I should try to RMA the card??? After I try all other possibilities of course.

Thanks again.

If it is artifacting at the factory settings, then it's definitely RMA time. Is it one of the SoC 1GHz cards? There have been a few reports of stability problems with those models.

Yes it is one of the SOC 1 GHz, I have also seen these problems arise in other forums but I thought I might have had it figured out, but apparently not. Do you happen to know if after the RMA they get one that works better, or do they get a different card??

I've never done an RMA through Gigabyte personally, but they should just send you a replacement model if they have one in stock. You might get a 950MHz core version instead since the 1GHz models were discontinued afaik.

I have been farting around on Gigabyte's website ( at work, LoL ) and found they have a completely different set of drivers for that card that became available on 5/3/11, it is a different version than what I have on it currently, should I try that too before I send it back to them? Sorry, I am just trying everything possible without an RMA, that crap take forever and I hate the whole process, but if it must be done then I will.

I doubt it will help since it doesn't sound like a driver issue, but it's not like you have anything to lose!

If it does turn out the card is unstable at 1GHz, you can try increasing the voltage in afterburner to stablize it yourself. Still, you shouldn't have to do that just to get it to run at factory settings.

You were 100% right. I tried the drivers straight from gigabyte and it worked great:o.............. for about 30 minutes:mad:. Then it started it's crap up again. I finally blew a gasket just took the damn thing out and made an RMA request right then and there. I had to put ol' trusty ( BFG 8600 GTS OC2 ) back in and she is still kickin'. Not bad for a 6 year old card. Thanks for all your help on this. This was the final resort before I turned it in to Giga for RMA. Hopefully it works better when it gets back. Thanks again.

Ah, sorry to hear that. Hate seeing a good card go bad like that, but it happens. frown.gif

GL with the RMA!
