HP ZR24W DisplayPort

Long time lurker here, lots of useful information on this board!

Well, today I got a new 19" monitor to run in portrait alonside with my ZR24W, I decided to swtich from DVI to DisplayPort, all fine and well till this point, after 45ish minutes I noticed the ZR24W started to get REALLY hot, touched the back side and it was almost burning, turned it off, switched back to DVI and the problem is gone, it's been an hour and it's at the usual temperature

What could be causing this? Faulty cable/plug? GPU related?

I could use the free DVI connection, so i'd like to be able to hook it to my PC via DisplayPort.

I would contact Samsung to troubleshoot that issue. It's pretty strange. I have that same monitor and used the DisplayPort for a long time with my previous video card (also a HD 5870) and never had any problems. It could be a faulty cable or monitor. The only was to really discard the cable is to try another.

I'll grab another cable when I get the chance and see what happens, hope I don't have to RMA it, I lucked out and got it without any stuck pixels or anytning on the first try back when I bought it in November :<
