Just curious if theres a reason why one wouldnt want to go with a simple cheap z68 mother board for sandy bridge. Such as GA-Z68MA-D3-B3

Not sure what you mean.

Your saying that would be a bad idea for 2500k/2600k? If so, why? You didnt really say a reason

you can treat this mobo as a H67 upgrade

I dont see why it couldnt be used for a 2500k.

Sata III and USB 3, like all SB mobos. SLI capable. Ram support looks fine.

I dont see the problem (assuming there wont be an issue with the fit), with going all out on that mobo. 2500k, 2x 580, ssd.

not so familiar with the mobo, however, it looks like it'll be fine for a 2500k. I think it's the equivalent to the p8p67 m pro (micro atx).

EDIT: Seems to be a good mobo, http://www.overclock.net/intel-mothe...obo-price.html

More or less, its nothing special. No onboard usb 3 which if anything will be the main deal kill for me. Apparently no PCI slots either, not that I've ever used em or have any plans to.

yeah, you can, but most 2500/2600k user just need more phase CPU power rather than this for their OC

just thought I'd add this here:

Having no PCI is irrelevant unless you have PCI cards that you plan to use. A lot of expansion cards these days are moving to PCI Express anyway.

The SATA port positioning is a legitimate concern if you're going SLI. If you're seriously considering multi-GPU, get a real ATX-sized board.

Found its ATX equivalent for $5 more after much looking ^^.

Only turn offs I see, really, is that theres no onboard usb3 and no hd audio. HD audio isnt a turn off for me but Im sure it is for quite a few ppl. On the note for onboard usb3, how can I tell if a mobo will be able to support front-panel eSata?

IDK what its power phases are, but yeah about an hour ago, I had read that there is little difference between all the different phases, along with a link to a 10phase board OCing a 2500k to 5.8ghz.
