It depends on whether or not it's in CF. The reference design of the 6950 makes it very hard to get airflow with side-by-side Crossfire. My first card idles around 70 and hits about 95 under load before the fans automatically ramp up to cool it off.
It seems too hot for me, but the fan is on auto and it is
capable of keeping the temperatures cooler at higher rpm; it's clearly not designed to go into panic mode at those temperatures, so I'm not going to panic either.
I guess it depends on the person and how long they need their hardware to last. If mine died after a year, I'd be content with upgrading anyway; some people, not so much.
I ended up wedging a small plastic SD card insert to open up 2-3mm between the two cards, and it dropped my temps by about 10C. That'll tell you how tightly these cards sit together in CF.Edited by Mookster - 5/31/11 at 10:00pm
