Fraps lag 1080p on a brand new $1300 pc...

Thread Starter
My issue is im trying to record with fraps in 1080p a game of black ops, very gpu light game... I get great framerates without fraps. With fraps I get 10 to 30 fps and since im recording at 30 fps. There isnt any reason it shouldent work. Ill list specs below but I have an external hdd im recording to since I get more fps not recording to the same hdd.
Any things I can do to optimize? Anything better than fraps?

My specs are in my sig why is this.happening?

Fraps is a FPS killer... I'll recomend getting more HDDs on Raid 0 and that way it will rise a bit...

I used one HDDs and my fps drop was like 20... And then I got 3 more and I never drop only like 5-10 and never below 60 Frams on Bad company 2

BTW.. Your Fraps setting gotta be on 60FPS for best results

Is it a USB external? You might need more bandwidth than that.

You can also try setting the affinity of BLOPS to 3 cores and set FRAPS to the remaining core. That helps sometimes.

Fraps really is an fps killer. My $1300 PC (I'd say very similar to your PC) dips below 20 fps in a few games. However, those games are GTA IV, Crysis, and Metro 2033. I don't understand how fraps can make a game where I get 65+ FPS dip down to 10. Try a few other games and tell us your framerate. Also, adjusting the framerate that fraps records at increases the framerate.

Recording on my D drive instead of my C drive helped in the past.

You might want to try recording to a different SATA (eSATA or otherwise) drive than the one you're gaming on. If the game needs to load anything and the HDD is in use by FRAPS, you'll start to encounter problems.
