Thread Starter
Hello everyone! i'm not an expert in GPU's so i wanted to ask you some information about overclocking my GTX570. In your response please say this:
1-What are the advantages? DIsadvantages? Would you suggest to overclock it?
2-How to do it?
3-Risks?
4-Suggestion about levels of overlocking
5-Whatever else you would say about xD
Thanks in advance !

do not OC one unless you have one of the chosen models with the upgraded VRM.

1. Advantage is: it can be OC'd to run as well as a 580 (depends on the GPU on an individual basis)
2. Use an overclocking program such as MSi Afterburner
3. none really, unless you mess with the voltage and put it over 1.1v
4. Make sure it's a stable overclock (and check that using Furmark or another benchmark test for GPU's), but otherwise, the sky is the limit!!
5. It is a lot of fun to overclock, and is very rewarding if you want to take the time to do it. Also, with 570s, the older models have bad VRMs, so they tend to go boom (not really, but either way, the GPU is toast), but as long as you have a more recent one, you should be fine.

It goes on an individual GPU basis. For example, one person may have your card, and can overclock it to 900/1800/2000, while you may only be able to go up to 850/1600/1750...there's nothing that is really set in stone. You just have to try different overclocks, mess with voltages, and test the OC to know if it will work for your card

Thanks

Use MSI Afterburner and don't pass 1.1v just slide acouple bars. I had mines overclocked even though it was reference and it ran fine for 3 months no problem at 1.1v. You can do 1.05v if your scared and want to be super safe.

You should use GPUTool to scan for artifacts because thats the only program that even finds them on the 500 series for me.

yup no problem...once you have an overclock set up in Afterburner, you can download a couple of different applications, such as Heaven, 3D Mark 11, and Furmark.

If one of these programs crash while it's running, then that means that you have an unstable overclock, and you need to make adjustments
