Can't boot anymore after running Prime95

Thread Starter
I had run Prime95 for hours in my new build and had no issues. Then I installed some Adobe apps (Production Premium CS 5.5). I then wanted to run Prime95 again for another set of test. It ran for few minutes and the pc got turned off!

After that I can't re-boot. I have WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit and it can;t repir itself after repeated try.

Can Prime95 corrupt the OS?

Nope,

Sounds like a dead processor. I hope you weren't using stock cooling.

First off, when you say you can't boot, do you mean the fans turn on but nothing comes up on the screen? Can you still POST? or do you get a windows error message?

If you can be alittle more specific...

I would reset the BIOS via the motherboard jumper/ button etc.
Was the processor overclocked very much?
Were you watching temperatures etc?

It sounds like either something is wrong with the BIOS settings or the processor is fried...

Highly doubt it was P95 that is causing your booting issues. Sounds like that Adobe software (counterfeit?) corrupted your OS.

No I am using Collermaster H60 which is designed for the 1155 chip. The temparature was well within range and far from TJMax. Also I am able to see the boot screen and allow the OS to run tests. If the processor is dead, would I be able to get that far? I mean see the windows screen?

This, need a few more details. Also you said "got turned off" do you mean it turned off on its own or someone turned it off? Usually something like this ia a PSU or motherboard issue. Especially when over clocking.

Ahh, thats a little more helpful, yeah CPU dont just die, they are pretty tuff. Your start up is probably corrupted. Boot with Windows 7 cd and use startup repair.

I asked this question for that very reason.

No, I own the software. I have annual subscription for Adobe master collectioon. It was installed from the original DVD and activated without any issues.

I can go to POST, can see the initial screen showing that OS is trying to boot, then it says that some files are corrupted and it can't repair itself.
