No Joke, do you really think Stanford looks at what it cost to buy the hardware to work the WU when assigning points? I ask this in all seriousness.

Yes I do, how many people do you think would build a hex core i7 or more powerful system strictly for folding if there was not some kind of incentive to do so. The people of Stanford are smart enough to know and understand this. Remember the old saying if you want to make a horse move dangle a carrot in front of his nose.

Ask yourself this why did Stanford start the bigadv program and make the point value so much higher to begin with.

I tried to get one beta wu with my 2600k with -smp -bigbeta flag but gave me a 6900. Is it doing a core/thread count?

Yes, Dr. Kasson said a minimum of 12 cores. http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.ph...=18756#p187581

Holy crap, that's a lot of cores. Can that be accurate? >930K ppd?

If so, I'm building the wrong systems and am gonna sell everything to build one like that!

Probably closer to 700k. These bigbeta have a huge upload and depending on your upload speed it may take several hours so I don't think that that was figured in on the 930k figure.

Grandpa_01 knows more on the size of the upload file and can give better insight into how long it takes then I can.

The upload file is 231MB so for some people the upload will be between 1 and 5 hours depending on there upload speed. A normal bigadv is 100MB so it will take 130% more time to upload than a regular bigadv.
