[GAMERZZ] NVIDIA shows Crysis 2 DX11 features at Computex Taipei 2011 - Page 7

Honestly the game sucked (imo) DX11 wont be able to save it. I already beat it and got the (horrible) story, I have shelved it forever.

Yeah, nice separate development there. And then all the hype with Nvidia releasing the GTX590 to sync up with its release, like you'd need a GTX590 for it.

Then what do we get? A game with technically worse graphics that runs slower despite looking worse than the original because it was ported from the 360. And yes, it does look worse. Non-volumetric particles, non-deferred lighting, crappy textures, and most of the "Hey, look at the graphics!!" moments were done with 3D skyboxing. The only reason it can be mistaken for looking better is because of the more visually interesting setting and better art direction. And yes, better art direction is a good thing, but that doesn't excuse them for giving us a game with less features and graphical quality than the first iteration!

PC gamers were misled, plain and simple. Doesn't matter if the game is ok (I played the multiplayer. It's not ok. Like Halo with the fun sucked out). We were still lied to. If you're fine with giving your money to these frauds anyway then more power to ya'.

And I'm ashamed to even know people who pirated the game. Because that gives it more exposure, which it frankly doesn't deserve at this point.

And patching all this stuff in months later when it should have been present from the start? Not good enough. You blew it. Bye-bye. Better luck next time. I'm not spending a cent, not even on the bandwidth needed to pirate the piece of crap.
Valid points, except the bolded, even though I still thought Crysis 2 was still fun. Not sure about anyone else, but Crysis 2 would run way faster for me than Crysis 1. Which it should though because it was running in DX9 with less view distance and less detailed textures.

Still, I will be waiting for the patch before a 2nd playthrough. I'm mad about not having it from the start, but that didn't take away from the gameplay for me anyways. There will always be some people that like games that others dislike.

The thing is about the above is that nowadays MANY developers love to show their engines tech, but don't use it all in their games. For example back in 2007, EPIC hosted a tech demo presentation, and one of the showcases was fully natural water simulation. THIS DIDN'T MAKE IT TO GOW2. This is STILL a practice by NOT JUST CRYTEK, but MANY developers! Many developers love showing how awesome their tech is, but frankly never utilize half the technologies seen! So please don't get all riled up when Crytek makes this mistake, when developers have been doing this for years. Also to be frank, you can't confirm that they DON'T have a dedicated PC Development Team. Fine you can't prove that they DO have one, I will admit that.....

Then what do we get? A game with technically worse graphics that runs slower despite looking worse than the original because it was ported from the 360. And yes, it does look worse. Here you contradict your own thoughts. You first JUST said, that you don't need anything near a GTX590 (the best card out there as of now) to max out Crysis 2, BUT the game is slower than Crysis, which last time I checked, required the strongest card of it's time to even get "par" results! So essentially, Crysis 2 doesn't require the strongest card to max it's visuals, but at the same time, DOES require 2 OR MORE of the strongest cards to max it out! The non volumetric particles are yes crap, but not off-putting whatsoever. When I played the game, I didn't even notice. I also don;t understand Deferred Lighting, explain this light technique? And the textures are crap, I know.

PC gamers were misled, plain and simple. Doesn't matter if the game is ok (I played the multiplayer. It's not ok. Like Halo with the fun sucked out). We were still lied to. If you're fine with giving your money to these frauds anyway then more power to ya'.

The argument on whether or not this game is fun or if any game is fun or not is one no one can win. You can't just say the game isn't fun and expect me to believe that, because fun is triggered by emotions such as happiness and excitement! And emotions are triggered by OPINION. So essentially whether or not you had fun or not is completely based on opinion, and you can't just say the game isn't fun. To most people though, Console and PC Gamer, the game IS fun. And I guess yes, we were lied to in some instances. I will give you that.

This is just total derp activity here. So if people make mistakes, instead of trying to fix them and redeem themselves, you should just give them the boot and end it. I really just don't know what to make of this essentially.

Well said! I personally thought the game was great. DX11 and better textures would fix the only real issues I have with the game. Oh, and fixing the cf/sli bug...

It's funny, I hated the new control scheme of crisis 2 when I first played it. Now I hate going back and playing the first crisis because it doesn't have the new control scheme.

Single was is so boring I haven't finished it yet since release. I can't believe I bought it almost full price. I'll try it out with the new update though.

looks like Nvidia will fine-tune the game to run great on green

great...

Fail. Nobody gives a crap about bloom, motion blur and freaking depth of field (unless you think dizzy-blurry-vision = realism!). "Patched" (read - fake) tesselation is gonna run like garbage with almost no visual improvement, same goes for "improved" water reflections. Either make it DX11 from the start or leave it DX9.
