[GAMERZZ] NVIDIA shows Crysis 2 DX11 features at Computex Taipei 2011 - Page 9

So, two options:

1. Release the console versions and delay the PC version for months (like every other multiplatform game). Fanbase gets pissed because Crytek screwed the fans of the PC platform by showing favoritism toward consoles and turning "heel", in wrestling terms.

2. They do release it on time but the fanbase is pissed because it lacks DX11 and isn't as good looking as the first Crysis. Fanbase continues to whine when they can't use Crysis 2 as a glorified tech demo for their "rigs".

Essentially, there is no winning for Crytek in this situation. They simply didn't have DX11 ready and chose the latter of the two options.

This is the reason I haven't progressed in the story any on Crysis 2 yet. Still waiting to be awed by the visuals.

we should be thankful, if it wasn't for Nvidia I'm pretty sure crysis 2 would not get the dx11 patch.

I care. Oops you just got proven wrong.

Even if it's not native dx 11 there are things they can do to make the game better looking. I agree that excessive bloom etc. is bad but the technology is good if used right.

Driver update to run crysis better =/= caring.

ATi/AMD don't usually promote games as aggressively as Nvidia and they just kind of keep quiet. Good example is the Nvidia FB page, lots of cool stuff they do, but the AMD page? almost nothing to get in touch with the gamers.

Nvidia also has much better relations with developers. There was an article a few weeks back where Carmack explained why he would choose Nvidia over ATi, even if the red team might have a better deal on a card sometimes.

I haven't even bought it. I promised not to when I heard that the game went and downgraded the technology used.

I will buy the game when they have DX11. I hope I enjoy it

wat....

Not technically lying, but intentionally misleading. Plus them saying Crysis 2 would have a separate development team for the PC version... Then "Press START to play". Yeah, nice separate development there. And then all the hype with Nvidia releasing the GTX590 to sync up with its release, like you'd need a GTX590 for it.

Then what do we get? A game with technically worse graphics that runs slower despite looking worse than the original because it was ported from the 360. And yes, it does look worse. Non-volumetric particles, non-deferred lighting, crappy textures, and most of the "Hey, look at the graphics!!" moments were done with 3D skyboxing. The only reason it can be mistaken for looking better is because of the more visually interesting setting and better art direction. And yes, better art direction is a good thing, but that doesn't excuse them for giving us a game with less features and graphical quality than the first iteration!

PC gamers were misled, plain and simple. Doesn't matter if the game is ok (I played the multiplayer. It's not ok. Like Halo with the fun sucked out). We were still lied to. If you're fine with giving your money to these frauds anyway then more power to ya'.

And I'm ashamed to even know people who pirated the game. Because that gives it more exposure, which it frankly doesn't deserve at this point.

And patching all this stuff in months later when it should have been present from the start? Not good enough. You blew it. Bye-bye. Better luck next time. I'm not spending a cent, not even on the bandwidth needed to pirate the piece of crap.
I fully agree with this. It's pretty ridiculous that Crysis 2 looks and plays worser (IMO) than its 2007 predecessor.

riiiight.
Perhaps you need to realize that DX11 didn't work well with Cryengine 3 which is why they held it back so they can finish it. I totally understand that. It really didn't work well with it til they fixed it.

I agree with you, Crysis 2 looks stunning for DX9. The bad textures are really the worst part graphically....
