hi everyone, ive just built my first gaming system with all brand new parts apart from the cpu, and my aim was to out do my mates with there ps3 and xbox's by having better graphics, all i want is my settings at mid range (1280x960) but the game lags, i absolutely love the graphics but i cant cope with the slight lag, is there anything i can do?

Thanks in advance guys

You could try overclocking your CPU a bit more, to about 3.5GHz-3.8GHz but Black Ops is a crap 360 port, so 3 cores or more are needed to stop major lagging so if it's possible, you might want to consider getting a Q8300 or a similar CPU. Don't get upset with your rig because it can't run a poorly optimized game though, that build is fine but I've yet to come across someone who doesn't have some sort of lag/problem in that game, regardless of their PC specs.

Black Ops is horrible optimized on the PC. Here is a link that has a few things to try if you want the game to run smoother: http://6frgaming.com/showthread.php/...-Tweaks?p=1898

Try textures on High instead of Extra, AF a notch back from the max, and 2xAA. You could try Windows XP.

Make sure Vsync is off. You get input lag with it enabled.

Black ops has already had many patches. The game runs fine now!

What exactly do you mean by 'lag'? That term can be used to describe a few different phenomena.

Are you playing on the TV in your sig? First off, you should set the game to run at the TV's native resolution, which is presumably 1920x1080 (1080p). You should be able to nearly max out COD:BO (although perhaps low or no AA) at that resolution with your graphics card, provided GPU is the limiting factor.

Also, you should install MSI Afterburner and make use of the OnScreen Display capability. Make sure to check the 'show in onscreen display' box for all the pertinent statistics: core/shader/memory clocks, gpu usage, temps, fan speed, memory usage, etc.

Try running the game while you're monitoring those stats in the OSD. Are you clocking up to 3d clocks (675 core I think is a stock 460 in 3d)? Is memory usage < 1000MB? How does the GPU usage look? Temps okay?

BTW, are you playing online multiplayer or single player? If it's online, try the single-player campaign. Does it perform similarly, or much better?

thanks for the program, its runnin at min 38fps max 60.1fps, max temp is 68, thats is a bit high aint it? i think its the processor thats causing the lag???
