I'm sorry...

I've failed to miss the point of this thread... It seem like it's to start some Mac vs. PC laptop battle.

Linux/Unix based OS's are designed from the ground up to not require restarting frequently. Windows isn't. That's a fact, ask any IT people they will tell you that. There is also nothing wrong with that, it's Design Philosophy.
No Mac Vs Windows, nothing, zip, nadda.
I was just excited to see on a personal laptop an uptime over 15 days! It was a first for me personally. I was also bummed that a simple program install made me have to restart.

I'm not sure why people get upset when someone posts one benefit of a Mac. Guess what? Windows PC's are the bee's knees to play video games on, Mac's can't touch them. I play all my games on Windows PC's. Does that make you feel better?

It was just an observation, and I didn't know if other people had the same experience or not.

I will never understand why people take very arbitrary and objective statements so deeply and get offended.
You're the one who compared PC to Mac, saying no windows computer you had ever had that long of an uptime.

All Nutty said was that there was no point to this thread, since ive got desktops that run for months at a time without ever needing to restart, and ive had linux servers run for months without restarts. Hell even my phone has had longer uptimes.

Dont take offense to people telling you that your 15 day uptime is not that special, its not a matter of what OS its running, its because its just not all that long.

You might not be trying to start something but the fanboys and trolls on here will just see this as an opportunity to just flame and argue. There isn't really a point to this thread... =/

I hardly ever have to restart my MacBook, except for the occasional complete battery drain. I know there was one point while I was at school where I didn't shut it down for almost a month, then an OS update came out, which ended it. That's one thing Apple has down pat is OS wake up recover. No issues whatsoever, and it's even better on the MBA due to the SSD.

Probably couldn't do that if I had a Windows laptop. Heck, 90% of the time I don't even turn my desktop off cause I don't feel like waiting for it it to turn back on or having it bug out on me when I wake it up from sleep or hibernation.

Too many people on here get butthurt whenever there is something decent to say about Apple products(mainly their computers). They make great products, but I personally don't like the way they do business. Wish I had a laptop that could run that long.

I run Windows 7 and Snow Leopard on my 17" MacBook Pro, and while running Windows, I hadn't shut it down for over a month. Your argument that Windows laptops can't do this is kind of lame.

I might actually use OSX on my MacBook if the HFS partition didn't get corrupted every other day. Half of the time my OSX partition won't boot due to corruption from hard shut downs

Just to clear something up!

I'm not offend at all. I think the MBA is an awesome piece of tech. I just think that there is no point of this thread and that it comes across as someone looking to start something LIKE "Pc vs. Mac" thread.

That is all.
