How To Test Stability Of GTX 580 OC - Page 2

You overclocked that beast for what? Intensive game? Then play some, simple and plain. 50 rounds of Crysis Warhead Benchmark is not a bad option imo.
I personally just game, have never saw any unstable GPU OC manage to pass at least 30 mins of Crysis at max settings.

The only program that worked for me is GPUTool. Run it for as long as you can and it will find unstability. Both OCCT and Furmark do not find **** because of OCP/Power Limit. You can also run Crysis Benchmark loops too, but I found GPUTool works good and usually finds artifacts faster than a Crysis Benchmark Crash.

WHat people don't sem to understand that you risk it by doing gpu stress for a considerable amount of time (furmark, occt, kombuster overnight etc), for me, I run furmark for a few minutes just to get an indication of the temps at full load, then actual gaming for stability. I usually use crysis and warhead benchmark with a loop of 50/70 and/or heaven benchamrk for a half an hour or so and if it holds on both then its good to go

580s are fine. 570s are more of a gamble since they have a weak 4 phase VRM. 580s have a beefier 6 phase, and on my reference card I ran 900mhz on 1.1v for extended periods of time with no problem in furmark.

Ati tool will help you identify artifacts and then heaven, crysis or any numberof gaming benchmarks will stress your GPU. If you are into folding then you can fold a WU or two, but if it makes it through some benchmarks and all you are going to do is game, then start gaming and see if it holds up.

This is correct.

Ungine Heaven 20min and Crysis benchmark (or Warhead,Crysis 2) for at least 30 loop and you're set..

Also you can use 3dMark 11 loop for 20min..

from my experience you can be stable in Furmark but still crash in games (happened to me many times)..

Also by running Furmark you risk your card to get killed..

CHEERS..

dam, i have mine OCed to 900MHz core clock and 2100MHz memory clock without touching Voltage and it seemed stable with 2 hours of OC scanner with artifact scanner enabled...
will try 3dmark11 for 30 min then play crysis 2 at max and see if it can handle that. does that seem like a good test?
