New Build...Is 700 watts enough?

Thread Starter
Its a basic system really, and there will be absolutely no overclocking. If i decide to do that in the future i may upgrade PSU's.

Specs:

MSI NF-980 MB
AMD Phenom 2 x4 955
1x 150g Velociraptor
DA700 PSU
ASUS 6970 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=asus%206970
2 x 200mm fans, 2 x 120 fans, 1 x 140 fan
Corsair H50
4g Corsair Vengeance Memory

It will eventually be hooked up to 3 monitors for an eyefinity setup.

Tanks for the help guys!

AMD say 550 watts will be enough for a 6970.

With this build 700W should be more than enough, but do pay attention to the PSU quality. There are many 700Ws from certain brands that may not actually provide more than 400-500W.

I would get some other brand of PSU for long term stability.
And it s the amps on the 12V rail that count not the watts number.

Read this :http://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/...graphics-cards

So you need a PSU with 35 Amps on the 12V rail minimum .This means that a quality 500-550W PSU should be enough. And you have affordable Corsairs ,Enermax and Antec PSU-s handy.

da700 has 58amps on the 12v rail...if he already has a da700, that's fine to use. silverstone may not be the most reputable brand, but judging from this model's reviews, it seems fine for this use.
