2500k temps

Thread Starter
My 2500k is idling at 35-40 currently. I do have my cpu cooler under volted to 5V and it is 35 degrees Celsius outside.

Just wondering what some safe temp ranges are. This thing is on 24/7 and I don't think it works too hard for too long most of the time (95% of the time it idles).

EDIT: I know I'm not in danger now, but I haven't overclocked yet.

For 24/7 I've read that you shouldn't worry until your cores start hitting 80c.

most people here will tell ya that idle temps dont really matter compared to load temps

so load that sucker up and see where it gets

but to give ya an idea...my 2500k @ 4.5ghz @ 1.31v idles between 33 and 25 between the hottest and coldest cores...im sitting here running a 12 hour p95 blend test and ive only seen max temp of 65c at 1:07 this afternoon

73c Tcase so a max of 83c on the cores would be fine.

Yeah, idle temps won't mean too much unless they're freakishly high.

With 35C room temps, 35-40C idle is as good as you could possibly get. Do be mindful of load temps because your ambient is so high. As the others have said, try to keep it under 80 at load.
Well I've done my prime95 and didn't see anything over 74, but you can go alittle hotter on these (under 80). With an ambient of 35 is hot. So you will have to keep an eye on things when you do your EXTREME overclocks on it!!
I've had the core temp's being checked when I've been hard core gaming all week long and have never seen anything over 54. So even if you get a high reading in prime95 in the real world I doubt you would ever break into the red...

Just my input on voltages and temps for sandy bridge.

No one is absolutely certain of what the safe vcore is for the new sandybridge chips. What I can tell you is that many say the max safe vcore for these chips are 1.3 region, however, intel states that the max 'VID' is 1.52 and many say that around 1.4 if your on air and 1.45 should be the max if your running water cooling. Personally I will not go above 1.5v for 24/7 with these chip but it is totally upto you. The main thing to understand is that 'you' have to come up with the conclusion of what the max is. That way no one is blamed if the chip degrades or dies.

Regarding temps, CPU throttles at 95c, some say keeping it below 85c is good, some say keeping it below 80 is better, other's say below 75c is really good and there are quite a few that say 70c should be the max. Which ever one your confortable with, just remember it throttles at 95c. I personally am keeping mine below 70c.

Good Luck

Alright, my load temps maxed at 62. I just remember that LAG775 shouldn't have gone too much higher than 60 and I was just wondering if sandy bridge was the same or if I had more room to work with.
