You have 800 in your bank account? Have you thought about going the used route. Things like CPUs and ram are good to buy used. Things like cases, CPU fans, and hard drives are good to buy new. Food for thought.

See what you think about this wish list. Sometimes you can get a decent (not incredible, but not terrible) deal on NE by looking in their combo deals.

That combo deal does not seem bad at all, although I would like to see what the total would be when coupled with the rest of the components.

I'd say get the 2500k. Clock per clock the Phenom II's are terrible compared to intel's first generation i7's. The 6 cores are worthless if overall the processor is weak. A 2500k is perfect for gaming.

If you don't have the $$ you need for an i5-based system, just wait it out for a few weeks. You will not want to second-guess yourself. I almost bought a 1090T, and about a week later I found myself in Micro Center with an i7-2600k and a sweet MC SSD in my hands. Intel is better than AMD for games right now, and has been since...forever.

ALSO, the Hyper 212+ is a great cooler with a push/pull setup.

P.S. If you decide to go AMD right now, it'll be a $500+ change down the road to get an Intel CPU and motherboard.

P.P.S. (I know, I keep adding to this...) The grand total with all your parts is $1021, free shipping. Wait for the extra $130 and you will NOT be disappointed. Heck, you can probably get that much by asking a nice old lady if you can mow her yard. Every day for a week.

Again, I can't afford it right now. Unless I can come up with a sub-900 dollar wish list that uses Sandy Bridge and can still get high framerates in games like Crysis (high for me is above 30-35), then I won't be able to get the 2500k until later. I need to make the decision tonight or maybe tomorrow afternoon.

I know a week of waiting isn't a long time and I'm being extremely impatient about this. I just need advice.

One backup method that I could use is selling my Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 HD capture device. It sells for about $160 and I barely use it anymore.

Either way I fully understand that the i5 list is way better. I'm just trying to figure out what to do about the money.

To save a few $$$ now, drop the 212+ and the fans, run the stock cooling for now, and get only 4GB of memory. Those parts are cheap to upgrade piece by piece. Sure it means little or no clocking, but it will pay in the longer run.

Hrm:
Asus P8P67-LE plus 8GB of vengeance : $220
HAF912 $59 before $10MIR
TX850v2 plus Caviar Blue 500GB $154 before $15 MIR
MSI GTX460ti twin frozr $240 before $20 MIR

That's only $673 before a PSU and has $45 worth of rebates to come.
