Asus board help

I have had some serious misfortune today. I had my northbridge chip crack on my Asus M3A32 MVP Deluxe board. I called Asus about getting an RMA on it. Turns out that the board just got out of warrenty about a week ago, and I can't get it repaired.

I was wondering if it was possible to get in touch with an asus Representative on OCN, and possibly have them help me out with getting this board RMAed.

what is the most you think would be to get the board repaired if they let me do that too.

A little OT, but how did that happen? And secondly how did it happen in a way that it'd be eligible for RMA?

that is the thing, I have no idea how that happened. I removed the board from the case to switch it, and when I got it hooked up, it wouldn't work, I couldn't figure it out. Then I started looking at the board very closely to see if there was anything messed up, then I took the chipset heatsink off, because I wanted to check the thermal paste on it. The die of the chipset has a crack straight across it.
