GTX 570 not being recognized?????

Thread Starter
I have two GTX 570s, and they are both reference cards, but today i went to install drivers on my Z68X-UD7 and all of a sudden the GPu is not recognized by the drivers. It says general VGA driver installed, and its just a puzzle to me. I tossed in the other GTX 570 and it works perfect, just this one GTX 570 is being a *****.

Any ideas?

Well have you tried that card in another system??

If it does the same thing in another system then there's something wrong with the card itself..

CHEERS..

Any ideas?

Q1: Are the 2 cards newly bought and have not been tested at all?
Or, they have been working fine and now one of them is not being detected properly in a newly bought motherboard?

Q2: With the 2 cards installed, do you get the short single beep at bootup or some other beeping codes?

Q3: Any POST error code shown in the lower right corner Debug LED? (red circle in pic)

Q4: And, do all the basics:- take out the card and reinsert it tightly fully into the slot. Take out the card's two 6-pin PCIe power connectors and reinsert them fully into the sockets with a 'click' heard.
Where are the 2 cards installed? Have you tried exchanging slots between the 2 cards? See the 2 green arrows in pic.

An offhand solution:
If the only abnormality is that one card has a yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager, you can try re-install the driver for that card by right clicking it in the Device Manager. Just direct it to install the latest (already downloaded and sitting somewhere in your harddrive) driver package.

i had a similar problem with gtx range and if i look at your sytem specs, how much voltage is your system pulling cause it might be that your 1000w is too small, recommended is a 1500w for sli gtx 570 with all the sys fans and after market collers running etc. try it by unpuggling some fans etc and excess drives and put your card back just to see if it detects it and that it posts and boots normally

I have tested these GPUs to the max, i have an AX1200 sitting here, my 1kw PSU is fine, i have a wattage meter on the wall and a special wattage meter at teh CPU, the system + board without CPu only pulls 100 watts, with either card, that is at idle tho, still should work.

Anyways yea every trade of card between system of different chipsets and even teh same show one working fine and the other ******* up.

There isno exclamation mark.

These cards are both review samples, that have been in use for a while, i did a demo with them in SLI and they worked fine, now I get back maybe there is physical damage, so ill look it over and maybe fix it if there is, but the card works just like it should, except without drivers and in legacy mode lol.

Vendor already said to send it back and get a new one, but I hate shipping stuff, especially trying to get UPS to not charge me and just use the vendors account like teh vendor thinks is a piece of cake lol.

Anyways I checked power output to the card with different PSUs, both which use different power cables to the GPUs.

A friend told me to try em in SLI like before and then maybe the other card will reset or if it doesn't work t hen its gone and if it does then its fine, but hes got a lot more GPu experience b/c all he does is review GPUs lol.

I tried different driver versions too no go.

The board has a POST display and it doesn't hang on anything, I have a separate BIOS POST card from Taiwan, its set to PORT 80H and then i tried 84H neither hang on any error.

IDK why a voltage change would change anything as one card works fine in the same port, I also tried all 4 PCI-E 8x/.16x ports, thinking maybe it was one of them, but all are fine.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried installing the driver from within the Device Manager?

See red arrow in pic below. Manually direct the path to the driver location in your harddisk.

If you have tried this, what happened?
Installation did not go through completely and successfully? Or, it went through but the card still does not show up as a GTX570 but some basic VGA card?

False. Plus the run-on sentences make it difficult to read.

Sin, what drivers are you using? Have you tried the 266.xx WHQL?
