Memory speed and HD 3000 performance.

Thread Starter
Just ordered my 2600k and I'm going to wait till I can get a 570 GTX for under 300 dollars shipped so I'm going to live off of the Intel HD 3000 IGU.

So I'm curious to know if memory speed effects performance. I'm guessing most of the tests that have been performed have been done off DDR-1333. So if you run 1600 or lets say 1866 (that's what I'm going to hopefully run, OC) that should in theory increase performance because the memory bandwidth has increased.

right?

Right

And I'm very curious to see this kind of test on all IGP-on-CPU architectures as the bus width when moving the IGP from the NB to the CPU is identical for SB and Llano (64bit) but only half on Zecate (32bit). RAM speed should matter, it's a shame we haven't had such a review.

Yes, memory speed does improve performance. On my laptop which uses system RAM for the integrated GPU, the performance increase is very minimal though.
