And ya I see the ssd's maybe I'll just order and ssd and once im sure it posts and such buy a data drive. I'm just trying to stay under 1500 for the initial setup.
Yeah, that PSU should be plenty powerful enough... just to be sure, you're talking about the x650 gold right? If so, then you will be fine with that one.

Congrats on graduation! What major, if I may ask. And just remember, have fun with the build. I think if you look at most of the people who post here tinker with just about everything they own. It's in our nature so have fun, if it doesn't post right away, there is usually an explanation.

Last question, do you need that max of a graphics card? I see its around $350+ USD. Might save some cash with a slightly less powerful card, but then again, you don't want buyer's remorse. Just food for thought, the card you picked is amazing, just don't know how budget aware you need to be.

Keep us posted!

Public Relations, with a computer tech minor ,which makes me feel guilty for never building one even more haha.

I'm pretty sold on that card , maybe the 570 gtx instead but they are on a similar performance level. I run all games at 1080p and I'd rather be slightly overkill than risk slightly under kill. Specially with metro 2033 planning a multiplayer release haha. On the bright side my birthday will come up shortly after my build would be done so maybe ill get an ssd then after im more savvy in the whole building thing.

You dont need that big of a PSU either mate you could easily run that stuff on a 550 and if your gonna go XFIRE get a 650w gold or platinum

And for the card find an ATI 6950 reference and unlock....before you freak out even more ;P its real easy and someone from OCN (sorry forget his name) made a fantastic guide that works a charm links for the stuff you need are provided in the thread.
I did my 2 6950's with it

I would stick with the gold instead of downgrading the PSU in case you do want to CF later on.

Im running my rig on a 650 gold with my 6950 running OC'd

Link to the unlock thread

Power calculator

With the online calculator its a ballpark figure I found a thread here the other day (can't find it now) that explained all about PSU's and that alot of people over purchase in regards to their needs.

updated list should be able to pull the trigger and order sometime next week. Switched some parts to lower cost but get the same level of performance. Sadly just not comfortable trying to do the whole unlocking thing because I'd freak out if I got one of the cards that can't be unlocked by mistake.

Case :Cooler Master HAF 932
GPU: msi 6970 lightning
PS: seasonic x650
Ram : gskill ripjaws 2X 4gb (F3-12800CL8D-8GBECO)
MB: GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD4-B3
Heatsync/fan: hyper-212
Disc Drive: light-on 24x
Hard Drive: WD Caviar Black 500 gb.
Processo: 2500k

That keeps my build under my 1500 budget. SSD will come shortly after when my birthday rolls around. But until I can sell my truck my budgets pretty locked down.

This is a general inquiry about parts and not a build log.

Moved to Intel General.
