I say screw AMD and go to the i5 2500k/i7 2600k, get 5ghz clock and stick around for a couple of years while you enjoy crazy levels of performance. Waiting is just dumb.
I say screw Intel due to past shady business practice, and bias fanboyism is dumb.

OP: Just go with what suites. If you want hardcore performance "now" then go Intel all the way.

But if your machine is keeping up with what "you" want to do just wait it out until Bulldozer comes out and do a comparison between the two, then make a decision.

If your playing the waiting game, wait for intels 5nm CPU's

on a more serious note SB would be fine for you.

SB+ a good mobo and an SSD+ 2TB for storage. an amateur film editor's dreams.

Could be put together a decent price

I wish the Zambezi speculation would just stop for now.

Unless proof turns up of it's actual performance, whether it be synthetic or real-world, absolutely no information is available to phone home about pricing or performance.

The bottom line is, for the price you can build an Intel i5/i7 second-generation system and the performance it offers over what is available to build today, you just can't get anything better. Bottom line.

The more you wait, the more you ask, "When will 7xxx series be out, and when will Nvidia release their uber-GTX-Deca Parallel-Synaptic-EyeMotion-3DSense-9000, should I just wait?" or "When will they finally utilize tessellation to make my 470's really cry?" or even "Should I just wait another week, or month, or like what.. like should I just wait?"

Seriously. Buy what you will or forever be happy with what you have. Because, if you can afford to get something newer, chances are you have Sandy Bridge.

The answer to these threads is the same every time.

1) No, we don't have any idea how BD will perform.

2) If you need a new CPU now then buy sandy bridge.

3) If your CPU is fine, given how you use it, but you just want to upgrade then you might as well wait [until August] for BD.

Now let's not make anymore of these threads.
