I think this asserts the opposite conclusion: if a Noctua cooler is the same price as a Corsair cooler and the Noctua performs better, you should buy the Noctua. And right now the Noctua ones do perform better at similar prices.
All the BS about the Noctua potentially breaking your motherboard is comical. Not gonna happen, you can even ship a PC with an NH-D14 installed and it will arrive perfectly fine.
Can't argue with peoples' aesthetic gripes about the cooler though. If you prefer lower-profile stuff or you want more choice in terms of color or design, these coolers are probably a bad choice for you, and the closed-water loops from Corsair etc. are fine alternatives.
I for one, although giving up my NH-D14 for a custom loop soon, think all these Noctua coolers have strangely elegant yet powerful designs. I just really dislike the fan color...
