AMD Bulldozer in june or August ? - Page 3

post #21 of 35
There has NEVER been anything that AMD has released that hasn't already been pooped on by NVIDIA or Intel.

I love AMD because of the price and I've built hundreds of AMD systems, but hell.....

Don't be expecting anything much better than the i7-2600k

I considered i will go with 2500K becouse is not worth waiting and AMD will probably keep postponing it (and buy corsair H80 or H100) 2500K OC is close to 2600K OC right?
Also will be P8P67-M good for it ? and which ram is good ? from review i saw g.skill sniper don't oc so well so patriot g2 1600 8GB and kingston hyperx 1600 8GB would be best choice right ?
or will be this new ram shown from corsair on computex will be good OC-er ? i haven't notice any review
Also which gfx 560 SOC or 470 SOC ?
560 SOC
460 SOC

I got tired of waiting and went SB. It was a great decision. For $450 (CPU / mobo / RAM) I get a very fast PC and had quite a boost in performance in several of my games (upgraded from a Phenom II @ 3.72). I would do it all over again.

Eh?

With SB you don't need good ram, the IMC is smoking fast. You also don't need good ram for OC'ing since fsb tweaking is extremely limited.

If you want more than 4.1GHz~~~ you need to spend the extra $10 for an unlocked "k" chip.

i5 = 4 cores 4 threads - 6mb L3

i7 = 4 cores 8 threads + 8mb L3

Overclocking is pretty much the same, luck of the draw.

The i7 is about 20%~ faster clock for clock in applications that can use 8 threads, they're pretty much even in gaming it can go either way.

And which gfx and ram probably will go with asus P8P67 pro mobo
(and usually intel prices don't reduce so much so i won't be ripped off with 2500K right ?) i have LC arkangel 850W so will be good for OC and if is stable enought ?

Please be in June, Im waiting for you BD...and you..CH V.....you two are going to be my mistresses
post #29 of 35
Some decent Ripjaws or HyperX Blu will be fine.
I'm not comfortable with the brand of the PSU.
Indeed, get a K chip if you want to overclock.
Which graphics card ? ... Well, what do you need ?
2x GTX 460's can play everything in 1080p and max settings.

And yes, you don't need good RAM to overclock. Not at all.
A 2500K can get you to 4,7GHz with some decent cooling (H50). Perhaps even 5GHz if you push it.

Also, if you cannot wait more than 2-3 weeks, Bulldozer is not for you. Presumably...

The performance issue could be arguably anything from a TLB issue similar to Phenom or IMC performance degrading or heck even something similar to the P67. AMD was not specific. Because of what they stated does not give out anything concerning BD performance vs SB.

That said, expect BD in 60-90 days (according to a slide in Taipei): July-August launch for the chips. The new stepping will be a further performance improvement, which is a good thing to keep in mind.
