I use Avira which is super light weight when it comes to resource, has very few false positives and stops most everything.

I also run a malwarebytes scan once a month just in case something slips past the goalie. But i have yet to find anything that has slipped past Avira.

I've used Webroot for years and it's blocked or caught every bit of malware I've come across. It's pretty cheap too, like $30/2 years on my plan.

The only way I go is with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, it stops everything, updates twice a day, has a gaming profile, scans anything you want it to scan, you can set it to scan by a schedule or what ever you choose, has a sh*% load of options in control panel, everything you can possibly need.
