Underclocking RAM for P67?

Thread Starter
As of now, I have a set of Corsair Dominators 1600 rated at 1.65 volts. From what I heard, you need 1.5 ram for P67, is it possible to underclock my RAM to 1.5 and safely overclock on a P67 board?

I have 1.5v ram myself, but others have ran 1.65v ram on p67 without issue. Some in this thread are doing it. http://www.overclock.net/intel-memor...65v-1-a-2.html

On SB, RAM and CPU overclocking aren't linked as you don't have much freedom with the BCLK. So you can have your chip at 5GHz but still run 1333MHz RAM.

You could safely run those sticks at around 1.6v with a moderate overclock, but as soon as you start pushing to 4.5+ then it's recommended to not go above 1.5v for RAM as this MAY cause damage to the memory controller in the long run. However there isn't any solid evidence to prove this as SB is still relatively new on the market, but better safe than sorry.
