GTX 580 .... what brand?

Thread Starter
Asus DirectCU II 782MHz ($490)

MSI Lightning (TwinFrozr III) 832MHz ($520)

EVGA Superclocked 797MHz ($510)

all factory overclocked and all canadian prices

please give some valid reasons like power consumption, performance, reliability, etc.

This is a friend's build... I am using the EVGA SC one myself and I don't have a problem with it but my friend says it's too ugly... -_-

If you are looking for the best non-ref card, in my opinion its the MSI Lightning...It has a great cooler and a great factory OC....Many of those cards are hitting 950 on the core with little effort. You have a 16 phase VRM that will support the volt increase...All in all a great card...I have 2 of them in SLI in a different machine that I have.

And to top it off.....It looks DEAD SEXY in my case...

EVGA has best customer service. Just get the regular one and OC yourself.

ASUS one is great but takes up multiple slots. If thats ok then go with that one.

IF going with MSI get the Lightning model.

He's only getting 1 GPU so I don't think slots can be a problem. If there is a problem with the GPU do they pay for shipping (EVGA)? I am located in Canada so that might be a problem since I don't think they have a service center here.

Better chances of a better OC with the lightning model because of the VRM's being designed better...

Another vote for the Lightning. It OC's like a beast with minimal voltage tweaks, and stays really cool and quiet.
