Totally not needed.
Just swapped from a 6600 gt to a 9500gt and then to a gtx275 without even using driver sweeper. They are actually the same drivers :S

Actually it's easier than this. Put it in, download the latest nvidia drivers. Install when asked select custom over typical and check the box that says clean install. When done you got yourself up and running

Go on control panel and remove all nvidia drivers with the 460s in, then turn pc off, put 580 in, pc will start up and windows will detect and install a relatively recent driver (i.e from 2011). Once its done that go onto nvidia website and download driver from there.

Now theres one thing wrong with this, the recent nvidia drivers, 270? I believe for my gtx 400 series SUCK, and I had to go with old 266.58 drivers as there supposed to be the best recent drivers.

Not when they are vram limited. 3gb compared to 768mb.

Take $100. That's how much paid.

So yea a 580 will be faster in many games compared to 768mb 460s. Read before you post.

And thank you to anyone who posted useful information.

I game at 1080P.

Vram will get munched up quicker. I can have better FPS with higher settings.

I know it is more powerful due to it being a SLI setup, but the vram is limiting.

Test the performance in some physx games like batman aa, metro 2033...with single gtx 580 and gtx580 + gtx 460 for physx (ppu - physx processing unit)

Is it still necessary to do this? The last couple of drivers nvidia has released I recall seeing an option for "Clean install." Wont that take care of evertyhing? I just recently switched from GTX 285's in SLI to my GTX 580 and checked the "clean install" option and everything is running prefectly.
