I did an experiment with 3d mark vantage a while back where I had my video card, HD 5870 @ 1000/1375, and ran a test with 6 cores, 4 cores and 2 cores. 6 and 4 did not make much of a difference in graphics score but 4 and 2 had a noticeable difference. Let me look for it.

Ooops I deleted the Photobucket pics already. But here is the link, if you read it proves not a huge difference at all in cores on cpu when it comes to, well at least 3d mark vantage, scores with graphics.

I would say get that X2 555, and who knows, might be able to unlock a core or 2. But if not oh well, dont really need it.

EDIT: I have that exact chip in your sig in my GF rig and it runs GTAIV very nicely with a 8800GTS 512, but you can probably OC an X2 555 to around or at 4.0 ghz making it much faster.

The 955 can be had for 119.00 113.99 these days, and on sale at the egg for less than a hundred. Watch the [online deals] thread daily to find a steal. I would go with the x4, especially if you are going to be playing BfBC2 as it loves a quad.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...8&Tpk=955%20be

Plus there is a promo code going around right now that newegg is giving $10.00 off a purchase of 100+. That is only 10.00 more than the 90.00 X2
