HTPC or something else

I'll be the first to admit I am slow to the race on this one. First let me explain what I am wanting to do and accomplish, then will have you all suggest the best solution to meet my goals.

I currently have Fios package with TV at home. There is 1 multi-room DVR (want to replace). There is 4 regular Boxes, would like to drop this down to 1. We also currently have about every dam movie channel there is (will be replacing with Netflix).

I have looked at media players such as; Roku, Logitech Revue, Apple TV(didn't really like), and Sony Network Media Player with wi-fi.

I figure I will need to buy 4 Media players. I want to use basically setup a computer as a DVR, be able to pull Netflix movies and view recorded shows from the Networked DVR in 5 different rooms.

The cost savings from dropping the paid services from Verizon will be approximately $1300/year even with paying for a subscription to Netflix. I know there will be upfront costs, but if I can have those upfront costs be less or equal to the 1300 savings, the life cycle of this would be well worth it.

So basically there is my budget $1300, what solutions can you all come up with?

So here's a basic build for a HTPC to play back netflix and streamed video from a fileserver.

Keep in mind, you can reduce the price still if you don't need a tuner card in every room or if you only want 1 tuner for the PC in each room.

See attachment for the build and costs

This is just a basic build, I'm sure others with more experience and knowledge in this department could give you better advice on a build and what to do. It's just something to get you started.

If you want to keep FiOS, then:
HTPC + Ceton InfiniTV4/HDHomeRun Prime + 4x Xbox 360.

Unfortunately, the Windows Media Center + extender route is the only guaranteed way you can watch all your recordings (including DRM'ed ones) in every room.

However, unless you cancel your FiOS TV subscription altogether, I don't see how you can save $108 per month. Are you planning on moving to antenna + Netflix only? Assuming you've got 5 TV's, upfront cost will probably be higher than $1300.

I won't be canceling Fios all together but I do plan on dropping from $250/month to about $130 a month.

EDIT
So this device (SONY SMP-N100 Network Media Player with Wi-Fi) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882105511 (4 of them specifically) tied back to a HTPC will not do what I am wanting?

What do you mean by "tied back to a HTPC?"

Also, the Logitech Revue (as far as I've read) does everything you want, assuming you don't want record functionality in all the rooms. This would leave you with 1 room to record (off of your Fios) and then 4 other rooms with the Logitech revue for streamed playback/netflix/and all the other things it offers.
