May reach higher speeds...i should be a bit more specific. The lack of HT means you may be able to push the chip farther....not all chips are created equal.

41-1 so far on the poll....

Someone actually voted for the 980? sheesh

As noted in comments above, the extra cores in a 980 will not provide a benefit to gaming. Certain other types of applications do benefit but not games.

Can't vote through tapacrap, but it should be obvious that I'm all for the 2500k...or 2600k if you do some video conversion/editing/other applications that will benefit from a total of 8 threads.

I would also have to say the 2500k is the best cpu out there for gaming right now.

The 2500k is the one for gaming only, but the 2600k isn't really going to make much of a dent in gaming performance. When he was leaning towards the 2600k I figured he may also do the occasional encoding or something as well. He has the 950 & is used to having HT.

Your just read my mind.. i am not doing that much encoding, but i am opining my side monitor to monitor some other stuff like GPU, CPU heat.. I like to keep some running Apps While Playing game, furthermore i like to play most my game as 3d. Also i like to watch FullHD movies through my upcoming new projector at 100"+ screen.. all of that beside my GAMING, which is my first target..
