Club3d GTX 580 any good? Crappy brand?

Now i might seem silly, but when i buy a 650$ video card, i get really suspicious when its a brand i do not know well smile.gif I live in denmark, and the only card my stores had in stock was the Club3d gtx 580; http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/geforce-gtx-580.html

I have not really heard about club3d before .. Is it a bad brand? do their cards seem to die? Am i right to presume the quality of the brand doesnt matter, since i think this is a reference card anyway, so it's only their cooling solution i can question? they are going to be watercooled anyway ..

Plz stop me if this is a bad decision, since they have not yet been shipped cool.gif

I'd bet dollars to donuts that all the reference 580's are physically made by the same company in China (I'd guess it's Foxconn), and hence the only difference between them are going to be the sticker, and the warranty/customer service you'll receive in the event of problems.

Club3D, while not a particularly big/popular vendor, has nonetheless 'been around' at least since 2005 when first saw one of their cards. If they were totally crappy, I'd imagine they'd not be in business anymore, given the level of competition in the market.

Welcome to OCN, btw thumb.gif

It's perfectly fine since it's a reference. I used to think the top brands were better in that department as well, but it seems more likely that all the publishing brands just get send random batches of 580 GPU's, nothing binned.

Club3D specifically isn't bad at all, I once had a custom 4890 by them, 1GHz on the core like a breeze.

I suppose its a fine card then .. I just had this feeling, you get when you're in doubt about a 600$ product hehe .. cool.gif

Will i gain any overclock-ability by getting this model instead; http://www.xtreme-pcs.com/parts/gainward-vga/nvidiaa-geforce-gtx-580/prod_181.html
?

I know this isnt a reference pcb, and maybe this has better power phases? Do not think about the cooling solution, since it is going to be watercooled with my 2nd gtx 580 cool.gif

And thx for the welcome btw! funny thing is, that 4 weeks ago, i knew abselotely nothing about computers .. Hadn't even seen a bios before .. Then i got crysis 2, and felt like i had to upgrade my old desktop - now i can't stop thinking about computers lol. The fun of it isnt the games, it's the tweaking, building and the overclocking biggrin.gif

All reference cards are the same. They all overclock the same (in an large sample size sense), and are separated only by warranty services.
