460 fermi 2gb 256bit, worth it? details inside

Thread Starter
So after a long debated im going green. Ive been crimson guy for about 6 years now. Though i do have a few questions and to start ill tell you what i use my computer for. I am an architecture student so the main reason i went with the card i choose is because i do heavy rendering. A lot of Best quality in revit and other render programs. + im a pretty avid gammer. So from my sig rig u can see i have the 5770 and im going with a evaga 460 fermi 2gb 256bit card.

I guess im worried that it wasn't the right descision and i maybe should have gone with a 560 ti 1gb since there around the same price. give or take 50 bucks. Though from what i herd the rendering will take advantage of the 2gb and possible speed up the process. would love to know what people think?

+ i got and 115gb Corsair ssd, wd Black 64mb 1.5 tb hardrive, 8 more gigs of sniper gskill ram, would should help some as well.

For rendering id take the 460 2GB, for gaming id take the 560. It depends which is more mission critical for you.

The 2GB 460 from EVGA is the 2win. That is a dual GPU card, and is very fast indeed, matching a GTX580 in some cases. It is a solid performer.

The EVGA GTX 460 FTW is a single card and has 2gb of memory, but I could be wrong.

There is a dual 460 evga card with 2gb (the 2win) and a single 460 evga card with 2gb in addition to the usual 1gb/1gb se/768mb cards

From what I hear the memory bus bandwidth isn't fast enough to use the 2gb on the single 460 for gaming, let us know how it works out for you though

2GB, single-GPU 460.

Imo, for both rendering and gaming, the 560 ti would have been the better choice.

Really? crap i figured the 2gb would be better for rendering. More worried a bout rendering vs gaming. The card will be good for what i play. The 5770 played it maxed out. im sure this card would as well.
