DRAM Temparate warning at 60C!!

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am getting a warning from ASUS monitoring tool as soon as my DRAM temparature goes higher than 60C. I am running Prime95 blend and after about 30 min, the temparate starts to rise. It went up to 64C. Is that normal or too hot? Can anyone please tell me what is the maximum and how should I lower it?

I am overcloaking at 4GHz at Vcore-1.2v. I am attaching few screen shots.

Holy crap that is insanely hot. Your processor should definately be under 70. Heck I'm sitting under 60 @ 4.8 (albeit I have a custom loop) but still!!

Something wrong with your case airflow I'd say if your DRAM is that hot.

Is your H60 exhausting or intaking?

Exhausting I think. I can barely feel the air when it is running. I was thinking the same that the temparate is too high. If I go for 4.3, I can run Prime95, but the CPU temp goes to 90C!! I immediately stopped the test. Do you think I should re-apply the thermal paste? Could it be that the thermal paste is too thin or uneven?

The CPU temparature is usually around 40C with no load.

Yes you are going to have to reseat the cooler. Also place a flat razor or metal piece on the cpu and h60, place a light behind that metal piece and if you see light comming through, then the coolers/cpu uneven and its going to need a lap wink.gif, also reapply some good thermal paste -diamond ic etc...

Oh what a difference! I have taken out the cooling block, applied Antec thermal paste evenly on both CPU and cooling block, corrected the orientation as per the manual, tighten (not over tighten) better than before (I did only hand tighten before), reverse the fan behind the radiator and also reverse the bottom fan to exhaust. Now I am getting steady 57C DRAM temparature and 59C CPU temparate with 4.3GHz and Prime95 Blend with HT!

I am going to continue to run the test over night and let's see how it hold up.

How is that Asus even probing DRAM temperature? Very few kits support that, the only one to my knowledge is the Crucial Ballistix Smart Tracers confused.gif

The ASUS Sabertooth motherboard came with a DVD that has AI Suite of application. It has Thermal Radar, DIGI+VRM etc. that shows the sensors on the motherboard and the realtime temparature on the area on the board.

Seems to be only the Sabertooth that has DRAM Sensors... My P8Z68 and P8P67's didn't frown.gif

I am overcloaking at 4GHz at Vcore-1.2v. I am attaching few screen shots.

I am attaching some AFTER screen shots. I did the following:

1. Taken out the cooling block, cleaned the thermal paste
2. Re-applied Antec thermal paste on both CPU and heat sink
3. Re positoned the cooling block as the manual says
4. Tightened it properly
5. Reversed the fan direction behind the radiator to in-take. It was in exhaust mode before
6. Reverded the fan direction of the bottom chasis fan.

Now I am testing OC at 4.3 GHz at 1.264v VCore.

It's pretty cool and real time. Attached are some screen shots. I particularly like the recorder and the sensors on the board. It monitors and gives you real time warning.
