Yes it's true, the HTC Surround has poor battery life. However, this isn't the case with all WP7's. My Sumsung Focus lasts a long time for a smart phone. It can last two days without a charge, unless of course, I played games on it all day.

However, my Android HTC Evo 4 must of been made of a similar mold as the HTC Surround. It's battery life is TERRIBLE!!!
:O how you do that with your focus?? mine doesnt really last a day (maybe 2 if i use it lightly) but my GF has an htc surround and she goes a 2 days on a charge and shes a heavy texter

Also .. does anyone with a focus have long charge times (2-3 hours) maybe its a bad battery ..

Ever since I got my Samsung Focus I have loved it! Does what I need and is a visual improvement over the iPhone 4, battery life not so much but I always have a charger ^^.

It probably gets hate being a product of Microsoft and it being competition for Apple and Android.

This should get you started with rooting, and everything else in between.

Not sure how it happens to last so long, but my charge does take forever. That can be annoying. I usually charge every night no matter-- to always have a full battery.. maybe yours has some dead cells? Like I said, mine will last two days, unless I play around on it for hours.

HTC phones (at least the android ones) are not known for their battery life compared to other manufacturers.

The stock battery is 1230 mAh...
And that is the one we are discussing, with low battery life...

All smart phones have the problem with tiny batteries, blame manufacturers for trying to make their phones as thin as a piece of paper.

They seem to be figuring it out. Every manufacturer is increasing their sizes. HTC seems to be moving up to ~1450mAH, Samsung has a 1650mAH, and Motorola seems to like the 1900mAH.

I don't think increasing the battery size will help that much. They need to make/invent BETTER batteries, but until that happens, the root of the problem is the "power hungry" OS with all the bling bling. Not that the new dual-core CPU's are going to help

Longer battery life = more cells
More cells = bigger battery

To prolong battery life without increasing the battery size, you have to reduce power consumption at the software level.
