Why does Windows Phone 7 get so much hate? - Page 7

I got my Samsung Focus about a week after launch (pretty upset that the price dropped dramatically shortly after purchase =\\). And its pretty nice. I love the XBox Live and Zune integration (been using zune since 1st gen 30gb. Survived a tour in Iraq with TONS of abuse, can't complain!). I have two email accounts linked to it and as a result I very rarely have to get onto my hotmail account via PC. Up until the updates they have done recently, I had issues with it restarting randomly, and occassion it would restart and be "clean", but after another manual restart it would go back to what I had. But after the recent updates, zero issues. Had issues with the virtual keyboard at times, keys not registering when I pressed them, but fixed via update, and overall performance has increased. Only thing I am upset about is the framerate in the Xbox Live games on it and slow load times. I first noticed it when I bought Pocket God (hilarious!!). The game ran smooth as silk on my Ipod, but choppy on the phone. Numerous other games run choppy too (Earthworm Jim, Hydrothunder, etc). But I don't game too much on it (I usually have my PSP close by) when I'm out and about. I would love to see more Live games on it (lets go RPG/MMO for the phone!!!) but at good/acceptable framerates. I cant wait for the new update in the fall, believe its called Mango(?). Finally getting customized ringtones supposedly. In terms of battery life, this thing has the best life out of the different smart phones I've owned (Motorola Q, Blackberry curve...well, thats it actually). If I just let it sit, and make an ocassional phone call/text message, I can go easily two days without charging it (and have). But charge it nightly with moderate use throughout the day (even then, its only 1/2 to 3/4 drained). It would also be nice to see some more accessories for these phones! I want a damn dock for my phone when I sync/charge it!

What some of you don't seem to understand is that smartphones ecology is a platform war. And Platforms that start out late generally fail even if they are superior. Apple turned the smartphone war from features, to app platform.

Apparently with the same games, the frame rate is not as good as a 2-3 year old iPod, iPhone according to the post above me! (those games run fine on a ipod 2g, or similar iphone.)

I'm not saying it all doom and gloom but MS NEEDS to get some marketshare quickly. If you think Google is the ultimate spyware and ad company, MS is your main hope, imo barring Apple.

MS thru a bunch of $ to developers to make sure that there were apps, but if there aren't users buying apps, how long will they stick around?

I don't have a problem, but the lack of apps make it pretty weak option imo. Maybe some day, but for now imo Apple and Android are the two better options.

Then came along Google and Apple.. the underdogs that challenged the elder monger. They promised ease of use, features, updates, prestige.. Do No Evil...

Then they grabbed marketshare and began to make Microsoft not look so bad

Win 7 Mobile is a fine OS. It gets a bad rap from people who generally still have a bad taste in their mouth or are still enamored by Apple as the blog from their Macbook Pro's and call their buddies on their iphones LOL

Edit/Update:

Also one of the things MS got slammed for is blue screens and driver compatibility issues. But......... people often dont consider the fact that they had to write drivers or help devs write them for every sound card , video card, cpu, hard drive, cdrom, dvd, blue ray, keyboard, game controller etc etc etc.... from EVERY manufacturer + chipset drivers.... sata etc etc etc Thats a whole lot of time to write. Ever look for a Windows 7 Hardware Compatibility List ? Pack a lunch you'll be reading for a long long time

Had they been Apple they would have offered 3 models with 6 choices and been heroes too
The other day I installed Windows 7 on one of those big Tx Instruments calculator. lol for free...

Waiting for the platform to mature.

I used to be a staunch Windows Mobile conservative.
