Windows 7 Corruption

Thread Starter
Help!! I have had multiple problems in the last few months with my rig. Somehow, my windows 7 installation keeps getting corrupted. There doesn't seem to be any one thing that does it. So far, I have done a wipe and install on 2 different SSDs totaling about 7 times in the last 3 months. I'm getting tired of reinstalling all my stuff. I started out with 2 ADATA 120GB SSDs, 2 Western Digital 600 GB HDD in raid 1, 3 Sapphire Toxic Radeon 5850HDs (2 in crossfire.) After the second corruption, I went down to 1 SSD and the crossfire cards trying to elimainate problems. After another corruption, I went down to 1 graphics card and switched the SSDs, leaving 1 of them unplugged. I also left the Raid 1 HDDs disconnected. I'm running out of ideas. As soon as I get done typing this I will be running Memtest86 for about 7 hours. I don't expect those results to be bad. I've done the windows memory test a couple times and came up with nothing. The reason I know I am getting corruption is because I am doing frequent sfc/scannow. Programs start working odd. On this current corruption, the windows event viewer stops working. But they are all different. Never had the same thing happen twice. I'm at my whits end. I don't know what else to look for or search for to try and remidy the problem. Please help:thinking: I have CBS data from the SFC scan, but I have no idea how to read it.

Test your drives/SSD's with HDtune or similar. You shouldn't be getting corrupted so much, I'm guessing there's something wrong with one of your drive's (bad sector or something) corrupting files then messing up your installation, something along those lines anyways.

http://www.hdtune.com/ do a health and error scan

Running memtest86 right now on that machine. I'll try swapping out SATA Cables with one of my optical drives when that gets done. Been going for an 1:30 so far with 2 passes and no errors, which is kinda what I figured would happen. I didn't think it was memory, but had to rule it out

Memtest86 for 5 hours. 5 passes no errors. I'm calling that good. Going to reformat SSD 1, use a different SATA cable and put the cable into SATA port 7 on MSI 790fx GD70 board. Port 7&8 have a different controller than 1-6. Maybe that will help

Sorry it took so long to reply, work has been crazy last couple.

The machine boots okay. It's when I run the SFC scan that I see the corruption. I run the CMD prompt at the admin level and type "SFC/SCANNOW" It goes through its thing and if all is well it says "Windows Resource Protection found no integrity violations." When everything is not okay, it says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log" I don't know what I'm looking at in the CBS log file to tell what is what, or what is causing the problem. That along wouldn't make me reformat and reinstall 7 times. What starts happening next is programs forcing closed or just not working right. Slowed system performance. Things of that nature. I really don't know what it is. My sister is an IT geek and she swears its a hardware issue. But right now, the only piece of hardware that I haven't traded out, tested, or disconnected is the CPU, the Mobo, and the Power Supply.
