Hmmm. Might be an issue then. I just ran a SFC/scannow check on my machine again. 5 days after a fresh install I have corruption issues again. I'm going to hit the forums up tonight to try and find out how you figure out what is what in the CBS log file. I may end up reinstalling and not updating to SP1.

Okay, so going through the CBS data, it looks like the two .dll's that are causing the scan to show corrupted data are Audioeng.dll and apds.dll. These are the exact phrases extracted from the log file:

"2011-06-05 15:57:09, Info CSI 00000029 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"AudioEng.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-Audio-AudioCore, Version = 6.1.7601.17514, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch"

and

"2011-06-05 15:57:54, Info CSI 000000b7 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:16{8}]"apds.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-Help-DataLayer, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch"

Anyone have any ideas on that? My mobo has an onboard sound chip. I have no extra sound card.

Update:
I believe the two corrupted audio files were due to improper shutdown with updates pending (Damn kids.) I was able to fix them by pulling good files off of the win7 install disk. However, random corruption continued to occur afterwards. There was a common link in all the files that corrupted after that. They were all in the "C:\\Winsxs" directory. I have had several installs on this disk with only the windows format and firmware format utilites wiping the drives. I formed the theory that perhaps I had fragmented pieces of the previous installs murking about causing trouble. So I wiped the drive with HDDerase and did a fresh install. So far all is well. I will update again if anything changes
