Funny how I was complaining how old school receivers made in 70s and 80s were much higher quality and better performance power.

not sure how that x-tap works. my audigy 2's i/o box has a giant ribbon cable along with that one.

plus, you either have a bad card or you haven't tweaked it right.

i would still be using my audigy 2 if this mobo had a pci slot

I had the plain Audigy 2 ZS (same card, but no accessories) and I loved it. However, I've only used that card in Windows 98 and then XP (so perhaps it's just not fully compatible with Windows 7, however it sounds like chalkbluffgrown has the answer here). I remember having a complete global Graphic Equalizer in the driver (its control panel) as well as other settings that allowed me to get a very pleasing sound from it. I agree, it sucked without any adjustments to the Graphic Equalizer; to me it sounded flat and lifeless.

After making my adjustments, it sounded great. I boosted 8k the most (very high up), 4k about half as much, and 2k about half as much as 4k. I left the mids at 0, and I boosted the 2 lowest frequencies just because I felt like it.

I also had the Treble turned up to like... 90% or something while I always left the Bass at 50%.

Then I replaced this card with the X-Fi XtremeGamer (the one that looks like a low-profile card), and it made the Audigy 2 ZS sound like garbage.

I reinstalled creative drivers and set my speakers to 5.1 -.- sound is better but still not as good as onboard sound.
I cant find an equalizer to tweak. I've searched all tabs on Audio Console but nothing.

I know what you mean about the card sounds bad. Its because the card was made before windows vista/7 was even in development so its very hard to find proper drivers for it. I was eventually able to find proper drivers for my ZS 2 but I really dont even remember how I found them. Google it, maybe you can find them.

I found drivers designed to work on windows 7 on creative's website.
Is there an equalizer I can download that will work with the card?
