Droid A855.

You can get them on Ebay for $100-150. Root it and over clock it's processor to 1.5Ghz and you have a nice inexpensive phone.

Dang, a 1.5GHz smart phone CPU? Why not just get an i7 990x and chuck it in there?

Get an HTC Imagio. You can get them like $150 brand new off of eBay. It has WP6.5 but you can just install WP7 over it. Has really good battery life for a smartphone. My friend uses his for 2 days lightly with no need to recharge.

^ I agree I have that as my phone off contract. I wouldn't touch any Nokia phone. They are good hardware with terrible software.

This should be your first choice imo, the dev community for it is massive. As for overclocking, you'd be lucky to get over 1.2ghz with it

I am with virgin mobile they have 2 smart phones and are both $200. They are the LG Optimus and the Samsing Intercept. They go on sale from time to time and drop to about the $170 mark.

Note that that is with a contract, some people aren't ready to commit... plus the plans you end up paying for can be horrendous.

When I hear 'I want a phone for $xxx', I'm gonna assume that its an outright purchase....
