Can my seasonic or ax handle this?

Thread Starter
Can a seasonic 850 or a corsair ax 850w {basically the same thing} handle 3x570? i plan on overclocking all three and also the cpu.

Will also be running quite a few fans, and a 12v pump.

Whattya think? enough or should i invest in a ax 1200w?

I think you might need to upgrade your PSU, use this link to find out the actual wattage you need: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/p...ulatorlite.jsp

An overclocked GTX 570 can easily take 250W or more. Even at stock conditions, power consumption in a stress test borderline hits 250W:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/gra...0_4.html#sect0

With three of them and an overclocked CPU, not to mention hard drives, fans, etc., 850W is on the low side. A good 850W unit would run it fine outside of stress tests, but you might want something with a little more capacity. AX1200 is unnecessary though.

edit: oh, I didn't realize you already had the X850. That's kind of an unfortunate wattage to have. I guess if you don't go overboard on the overclocks and stay away from anything like FurMark, you should be okay with three GTX 570 on that unit. It's not like Tri-SLI draws three times as much power as a single card, because of the scaling. In general these units shut down (harmlessly, usually) before they're overloaded past what they can do anyway.

I'd recommend the Sentey Golden Steel Power 1000W for $171 after promo code:

It's not quite the same quality as the Seasonic X Series / Corsair AX, but it's pretty close. Certainly it's a lot better than Corsair HX1000. It's the Super Flower Golden Green platform used in NZXT Hale90, Kingwin Lazer Gold, etc. You can find many reviews on these units.

I can't find a review for a 1000W version, but the platform scales well past that, so don't worry about that.

^This, a 850w might handle 3 570s in games but for folding or stress testing I its not enought. I would go for a 1000W. I think theres a new Corsair HX1050 that would be perfect for your setup. A 1200w is unnecessary unless u are quad sli 570s or tri sli with 580s imo.

3.3v rail is a little high for the Golden Green 1000w based units but not terrible (around 35mv)

Also, the AX850/X850 will be fine for the Tri-Sli GTX 570 setup as long as you don't plan to run Furmark and Prime95 all day.
F@H should be fine as well, but I would caution to stay away from BigADV folding at the same time.

Any gaming or normal environment won't be a problem though.
