[Planet3DNow] Displacement of the bulldozer, according to AMD is a strategic decision - Page 3

If it's not performance related then why not just let them loose with the chipset and motherboards? Can't have your cake and eat it

I'd buy that over the inferior Atom, yes. And have a full 1080p screen while at it. =P

Exactly.
It's either good battery life and grappy graphics,or bad battery life with amazing graphics.
Decent graphics with a good battery life, hopefully at a decent price. Sounds like a winner to me.

Yeah, instead they're talking about the cake, but they won't even let you see it.

The BD delay does not appear to be performance related.

So you'd rather use a SB for notes and spreadsheets, when a Atom does the same thing? With Intel "HD Graphics" the SB notebook isn't much more capable than a Atom netbook, other than HD resolution & some HD playback.

Dunno. It may be true. Also it is a fact that Llano is early... so maybe they just used nearly all of GloFlo's capacity for the Llano ramp and just now are going to get serious about bulldozer.

I would be more apt to believe them though if they would give us some benchmarks OR if they had been upfront about the release schedule.

Don't forget better flash performance, the ability to actually do some light gaming and the fact that most SB laptops are just $100 dollars more than the highest Atom.

Don't forget. Atom's still at 45nm.... And is nowhere near the performance of even the lowest end SB. So let me throw that back at you. Why would you have a Phenom II x4 when the Athlon II x4 has the exact same number of cores and isn't that much less capable?

So if Llano used Global Foundries to its capacity that means Bulldozer is delayed because of production?

There isn't much difference between Phenom II X4 and Athlon II X4.
Phenom II X4 has more L3 cache, and it's higher binning allows for better overclocking.
