IF BD's good now, give some review samples out. All the "we won't release bench marks until launch, because it might hurt current sales" is BS. Anyone in the market for a $200- $300 cpu won't be looking at AMD's current line up because benches aren't out for BD, they'll be buying SB, simple as that.

IF BD's good now, then giving out samples and prooving the performance would stem some of the flow to Intel in the $200- $300 market, and it wouldn't hurt Llano sales either, as thats a different market.

From this..

The only way this can be strategic is if the performance is to par with current Sandy Bridge processors, or better so it fills the gap between SB and Ivy Bridge.

Which I don't think is happening. It's either that, or they don't have enough mass produced to ship.

I won't deny that Llano is their focus, because it is... but I don't buy the fact that they are delaying Bulldozer even longer for a "market strategy".

I feel the thread is heading this direction somewhat:

A platform at this price range and target audience doesn't need a powerful GPU. Are people forgetting the HD3000 series is more than powerful enough to push Facebook games, HD videos and WoW? Its performance is just as good as the mobility Radeon HD5450.

And as you mentioned higher end laptops all come with dedicated GPUs so it's not like Intel's Centrino platform is missing out on anything.

What's the most important attributes of a laptop for end users? High performance and long battery life, which AMD lacks.

So they want the apu's to have spotlight.. but that doesnt affect the BD market, those who are getting something with an apu probably could give two ****s about BD. Just like i could give two ****s about apu i just want BD.

Performance issues, capacity issues,etc... AMD is going to release when THEY think they market is ready. I cant remember what site I seen in on but it pretty said Fusion was crushing Intel and only had to let up because AMD ran out of stock. I think AMD is sticking with something that is solid gold right and will release bulldozer once the fusion wave has been ridin out. I also want to see how many"forget AMD, Im buying Intel" site members actually show up with a bulldozer in there sig.

They break a release date for sales? I don't see it happening. Seeing as they need to create a reputation of being able to meet release schedules and keep a solid upgrade path to get more big business. It doesn't make sense to further destroy their reputation in that area.

Watch this:

Near the end, where he holds up the Trinity CPU. That's their next APU, right? With the Bulldozer core? Why would they be working on that when their current BD CPU's are supposedly having performance/stepping issues? That makes no sense. Something else is going on.

To be fair, AMD never leaks benchmarks. That's just their policy. Even when people were salivating for their 68xx GPU benches (which were strong at the time), they refused.

Otherwise, AMD's suggestion that they "delayed" BD for marketing purposes is pure spin. It seems obvious they are not satisfied with the performance and are increasing the stepping, as has been reported. The motherboards are all but ready to go, so unless you don't like your head to head benches, there's no reason to withhold anything.

Again, this is something they've done in the GPU area - when Nvidia cold cocked them with the GTX 570 and 580, they pulled back their 69xx line for a few weeks to see if it could be tweaked, and then ultimately decided to price it more aggressively.
