Everybody calm down. It is a few weeks difference in schedules. We are shipping server in Q3 like we said.

That schedule delay pushed the launch of client into Q3. Nothing sinister. But keep in mind that launches align around events and partners, not production schedules.

The rumors of isssues aren't worth the time to address, they aren't true. Too much conspiracy theory going around.

I am sick and tired of commenting on desktop, all I caught was grief so I am done trying to help out on that front. Better to stick with only server. Based on the number of profanities dropped as comments on my blog, I'm done with that, I don't need the aggrivation.

Now, I am off for vacation so just keep the speculation down to a low roar and know that whatever you hear, it's probably not true.

Those of you waiting for Bulldozer performance results from Computex, I'm afraid we're not going to see anything representative of final hardware. I did hear that the upcoming B2 stepping would restore performance to Bulldozer's original targets, however it's unclear how those compare to Sandy Bridge. The other thing I did hear at the show floor regarding Bulldozer was about its clock speed. Current B1 stepping parts are easily hitting 3.8GHz which is what the high end SKU may actually ship at (with turbo support up to 4.2GHz). I'm waiting for more confirmation but it sounds like Bulldozer will at least clock very high.

Actually the real reason is pretty mundane. It all breaks down to scheduling at this point. Server is still expecting to launch in Q3, so most of the rumors are pretty far off.

Sometimes it is frustrating to sit on the inside and know what is going on while all of the rumors swirl. You can't say anything, and the moment you make a statement about one thing, every starts trying to read into that or ask about a million other rumors. That is why you can't comment on the rumors, it's an endless downward spiral.
Quote:
I am not going to speak to specifics, but if it was a technical issue you would not see me saying server is still launching in Q3.

If client was scheduled for the end of q2 and you have an impact to the schedule, where would it fall? Q3 obviously.

There is not a bug. I am sorry that you can't comprehend this fact. There is nothing more I can say because you just aren't getting it.

I would bother to respond if people would actually read what I say. Unfotunately it doesn't seem to match their reality. Perhaps if you go back to my statement about engineering samples not designed for performance you'd understand that you are beating a horse that is no longer alive.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...t=#post4880851

Quote:
A. I thought I already addressed ES on this forum, why are we still beating that dead horse?
B. I have said (in other places) that the delay is scheduling. Client moved from Q2-Q3 because of some re-scheduling, server is staying in Q3. If you want to read anything into that, you can see that there is not a huge amount of time difference between them, and the fact that server stays in Q3 should be an indicator that all of the rumors and speculation are massively overplayed.

To be fair here, it does make more sense for them to push the mobile chips now. Generally, new high end phones and tablets release June - August and if AMD is going to compete with their tablets powered by fusion, now is the time. Also, I'm sure they want their mobile platform on the shelves before back to school hits in August, when more notebooks are sold. You have to remember that everything is just rumors now and it's amazing how many places will get their news from one source without confirming its validity. In any case, a few more weeks for Zambezi isn't gonna kill anybody. Take a break from gaming go outside for a bit

Many fail to realize how small of a market the enthusiasts are.

If I was in their shoes I'd do the same thing. They need to push their APUs harder than BD. you're not going to see BD in your run of the mill prebuilt from bestbuy or whatever.

I agree too... it is performance related, the Bulldozer performs so much better than the current amd chips no one will want to buy them once the BD comes out. So they need to sell exsisting inventory's prior to it's release and the extra 3 or so weeks is what they need to get that done.

( lol... tongue in cheek of course ... but hey it makes at least as much sense as 90% of the posts on bulldozer have made lately..... )

To those saying that AMD doesn't cater to enthusiasts, I might just be ignorant on the issue but to me AMD has always tried to cater to enthusiasts by offering almost every chip as black edition chips.

Eh.... I'm tired of waiting.

I have no brand loyalty, but I must say I've been waiting on BD to see what direction I should go in. And as everyone knows if you wait on newer/better in the tech industry you'll be waiting forever. That said I was told not to buy my CHIV and 1055T when BD was "right around the corner" almost a year ago. I think I'm gonna go SB. I've got a build to do for a family member which means they'll be getting the main guts of my sig rig while I upgrade.

Thus BS.
It's all about objectivity. What if they DID do this on purpose and then noticed there was a ton of bad press about bad performance. That would undo the months of hype BD has been getting and AMD might not have liked this and decided to make a statement after all. Because really, they have no obligation to keep us up to date on what they plan, only the investors.

Not saying either is right, it's just a difference of perspective. We have no proof, so all we can do is speculate.

Bad press now doesn't really mean anything because it's only based on rumors. If when bulldozer comes out, it's as good as we all hope it is, then none of this will be remembered anyway. Rumors and speculation aren't going to hurt AMD, it'll be the performance of the chip that will follow them.
