[Planet3DNow] Displacement of the bulldozer, according to AMD is a strategic decision - Page 10

Actually I figure this makes sense for AMD. Llano will have considerably more market share than BD. Of course it's at cost to us enthusiasts but hey, more customers sooner = more money

Well I doubt AMD is going to just admit that it's delayed because performance isn't up to par....

constant 60 fps at 1080p on max settings is not an enthusiasts. It is actually one of the biggest goals of all gamers who can't afford great gaming PCs.

After 5 years of work, why would it not be up to par?

If it was a performance issue of the design in general, 1-3 months wouldn't fix anything. At best it would just ramp up the clock speeds a bit and end up with the same crappy chip. If performance was the problem, you'd be looking at a much longer delay. This has sounded like a manufacturing issue from the beginning and now I see no explanation that makes any more sense than the stated one. Llanos is going to have a bigger impact on the PC market as a whole. Maybe not you or me, but my parents, my girlfriend, and most of the people I build rigs/do tech support type stuff for will all be looking more toward Llano. 90% of PCs out there do not need anything more powerful than a Phenom II x4 + Radeon 6500 and with it being cheap, good on power requirements, and all on one chip, it's going to be a hell of a good value for most people.

What Bulldozer was really underperforming, the server side wouldn't be on track and the delay wouldn't be so small. Stop trying to cry the sky is falling. It just isn't true.
