Looking for 5.1 Sound Card

Thread Starter
I just recently built a new rig - My plan was to move my current sound card (Creative X-Fi Fatal1Ty Pro) into my new rig, but I've decided to leave my 'old' computer in tact as much as possible.

I am looking for a sound card that can provide me with 5.1 analog connections and will be good with games and music - I rarely use headphones.
I mainly play Source-based games (CS:S, TF2, etc.) and am a music lover of mainly metal and hiphop. I'm probably 60% music, 40% games.

I've had my eye on the Asus Xonar DX based on the research I've done, but all the game-support talk has got me a little uneasy since I mainly play FPS's and directional sound is very important.
I have no problem moving my Creative X-Fi Fatal1Ty Pro to my new rig if necessary.

Budget is <$200 and would prefer to purchase in-person (Fry's, Microcenter, Bestbuy).

Given this information, which sound card would you recommend for me?
Open to opinions, but I don't want to "downgrade" from my current card.

Thanks!
Willie Nelson

in 200$ you can get any card you want
if you are willing to spend much you can get the Creative Titanium HD or the Xonar STX or as you said the DX is very good also(yes it might let you down in some FPS)

but frankly why changing the fatal1ty???

the poster had asked for 5.1 analog output and neither of the cards that you list have 5.1 analog.

Those are both great cards though.

You could find a refurbished ST and buy a H6 daughterboard.

You could also buy an HT Omega Claro Plus+

But tbh, Xonar DX is just fine imo for 5.1

Forget about the STX and the HD
You can go as Simca said (xonar st with H6)
Or IMO the xonar DX great card and you will save some money though

So given my situation, would it be best for me to swap in my X-Fi to my new computer, or pick up a Xonar DX. Which is the better of the two?

In my reading, it seems the X-Fi is for gaming and the DX is for music - problem is I want both.
I'd be all over the Titanium HD if it had analog outputs...

I guess the question is, how do I upgrade my sound card without downgrading my FPS gaming experience? Which card can do that while still having analog outputs?

Thanks for everyones input so far. I will take a look at the cards suggested.

So basically I'm screwed for wanting both as there is no such card with analog outputs...
Dunno what to do... DX or Fatal1ty?

So wait, how can a sound card be good for music but not games? Properly rendered audio is properly rendered audio, it's not like one card is for offline rendering and the other for real time...
