Once Great Overclock No Longer Stable

As mentioned in the title, my awesome 4.5GHz constant Overclock is no longer stable.

Since my motherboard is literally down syndrome and I have to manually set my voltage every time I boot my PC with the ASUS AI Suite II tool in Windows, one of the kids decided to play CoD while I was gone and didn't set the voltage limits so it probably gave it a good 1.47 volts and ruined my stable overclock.


I've tried giving it 1.35 volts instead of 1.3 and still no luck. Any ideas?

This is a sad, sad day.

PS: It's still perfectly stable with stock BIOS settings

When you first did your o/c did you do stability testing (18+ hour prime blend, IBT, LinX)? Your o/c may not actually be stable at 1.3v - most are stable around 1.4v - your processor is "fine" up to 1.52v as that is the highest spec that Intel allots for their VID's.

- Just make sure that your chip stays cool, but you should be fine with a 1.4v setting, try that and run some stability test

1.4v quite a bit more than most chips need for 4.5Ghz.

However I don't think the boards will set themselves much over 1.3v, not sure what to tell you. Even if they were running 1.5v for a few hours of gaming load it wouldn't degrade your chip .05v+ that fast.

Sounds like it may have not been stable to begin with.

Running an unstable OC can cause issues, all those little core errors we see at 3 - 5 - 6 hours into a stress test dont cause a BSOD, its just an error, and after a while they can cause damage if gone uncorrected. I have always been recommended to run a 10 - 12 hour stability test since I first began overclocking, so I always recommend the same to others...

Can I ask why you need to use the AI tool in order to overclock? The P8P67 Pro should have all the options available in bios.
You may be able to get it stable, chances are it was just not stable to begin with.
As said above, your CPU vcore is good up to 1.52v so even if it went to 1.47 it would not have been the cause of the issues...

I can't find a way to limit my voltage inside my BIOS. It's as if I don't have the option. I miss the old BIOS's where everything was easy to find. I hate this new garbage.

Not real familiar with the new bios either. But the video below shows it in detail.

If you cant find the bios setting to get your voltage to stick, try posting a seperate thread in the Intel Motherboard section, there are plenty of members here running the Asus P8P67 boards which all have similar bios...
