The only reason to get the DS is if you are into OP-AMP swapping
The DS is only a product to fill the gap between the DG and the DX/D1.....so IMO the DS is kinda pointless
I believe the DS has a slightly better DAC/ADC and actually utilizes a real
cmedia 8788 DSP. The Xonar DG was built with a stripped down version of that same DSP called the cmedia 8786
which was specifically created for ASUS to cut cost. Granted all those extra effects may be useless headphone wise, I thought it would be nice to have for only a few dollars more. As for The AD700s, they don't really require an amp so I didn't really see that as beneficial in his situation.
The DX/D1 is basically a DS
with an even better DAC/ADC and or components if you think about it.

Okay, my bad. It seems that the DS for god knows what reason lacks Dolby headphone even though it's the same exact DSP found in every other Xonar. Nice Job Asus >_>
I guess the DG is a slightly better card if you want every gaming effect at your fingertips.Edited by Skylit - 6/3/11 at 12:47am
