If your willing to wait 8 months to see what BD has to offer, why not wait another 8 or so for Ivy. And if your waiting for Ivy, why not wait for Haswell.... See your argument is invalid guys, if you wait for this, there will be that coming up next.. Just get a strong proc and shut up

* mostly made up the time frames, You get my point.
I already have one!

lol, I'd rather just upgrade my system one piece at a time by getting a mobo when the right one comes out (waiting for Biostar to release theirs) and then a CPU. I have other hobbies (guitar & my truck) and a house to maintain. I can't afford to throw down $600 for a top tiered system from Intel.

I have patience (as do many people) and I just built this system at the beginning of the year, I am not phasing it out already! Once Zambezi comes out in September I will reassess my system and go from there.

Edit: 8 months is a long time in the PC world.

LOL at all the trolldom in this thread already! All this talk of 5 GHz on air....how many SB chips you see running around over 5Ghz?Very few, most top out at 4.7,and they are degrading fast.In fact my C3 Athlon pretty much matches most SB speeds,if not performance. This screen does not prove much, except what will be possible, especially when you remember the variance in every chip regardless of brand. This could be a bad overclocker with too much voltage for all we know.Add another stepping and you have a very nice overclocking chip indeed.

I have to agree with the don't wait more than you have to. But getting a new system every 6 months is something to do for lots of people. I used my last rig for a solid 4 years with no upgrades, and still could today for no more than I used it for. I expect this one do last as long excluding the video/monitor both of which I'm dandy with for another year at the least.

OP: While 6ghz is nice, I have to agree with people saying why not higher! And what's even more, Why is it not validated?

I don't know why people are focused on the max clock speed under LN2 when the architecture itself has the possibility of being faster.

It sounds like you guys should all buy phenom II quads since they're capable of hitting 7.34 Ghz..

Good question.

Why is there no Cinebench run at 5.0? or at any clock speed.

I'm glad he put it under LN2, only to put up a CPUZ shot. Niiice.

There are such things as walls where you start to need significantly more voltage. The same goes for Phenom II 45nm honestly. You can often get 4Ghz with 1.5V over the stock 1.35V for 2.6Ghz-3.4Ghz or so, but approaching 5Ghz+ clocks you start to need 1.8V and over. This is also an ES chip everyone, not a production sample.

Redwoodz is right about SB; 5Ghz is nice, but it's a stretch.

You guys should notice what was posted in another article concerning CPU-Z's Bulldozer support:
Quote:
– Turbo Core (up 1GHz, load up all the core 500MHz)
They just proved something about BD-overclockability. Your FX-8130P at 3.8Ghz loads up to 4.2Ghz (or 4.3Ghz?) on all cores, meanwhile on individual cores each core will reach 4.8Ghz with turbo boost. Four point eight gigahertz. With the proper cooling & motherboard you can get all your cores up to at least 4.8Ghz and higher.

Something never mentioned here is the fact that AMD chips always run higher voltages but meh w/e.

How is a cpu-z version that doesn't support BD showing the FX picture and processor info?
