Should i buy Asus GTX480? - Page 2

+1 for the 570 as well. It's a better value for money. Or you could get a 6970 as eggs2see pointed out above.

I bought my gtx260 320euros 2years ago and evrytime i want to upgrade my gpu
i spend more money.
That must stop....
so....what would you do in my place?
damn, i thought things back in the uk are expensive...but anyhow, a 288euro 470 vs a 300euro 570 is a no brainer, that 12euro difference is definitely worth investing. the 470 is by no means a bad card, i had one myself before, and it performs great, but like all 470 and 480s, they run hot and drains power for fun

as regard to 480 vs 570, i have to agree with the above posts, except the vram (both amount and quality) as its achilles heel, the 570 is perhaps still the better choice. but to be honest, if you don't abuse the voltage on the 570, it will have no problem with its vram.

so in the end, which ever one you get, you will be pretty happy with it in terms of performance gain from your 260, and since you can get the 570 for cheaper at the moment, i'd say go for it!

GTX has 1.5GB ov VRAM and GTX570 has 1.28GB..

Also GTX570 are known for dieing due weak VRM's for GPU..

I would only get a GTX570 if it's a non reference card with upgraded VRM phases for GPU..(such as Palit Platinum Sonic etc)..

Otherwise get the GTX480 as it's not that bad (noise and heat) as people make it look like and it's more beefier and will take any abuse..

CHEERS..

There have been very few failures of the GF100 Fermis, while COMPARATIVELY the GF110 chips have had poor supporting architecture. The fact that it is hot isn't an issue in and of itself as long as it doesn't destroy itself in the process. In terms of noise, the GTX570 is no better or worse than the GTX480.

In the end it is your choice. But, I would tell you to go for a 570 as well. It's a step above the 480 especially in power consumption and temperatures and most of the 570 cards on the market is a little bit faster than the 480s.

Actually in terms of power consumption there's very little difference between 570 and 470. Only the 480 had that problem with 100W extra in full load compared to the 470.

Rainmaker i can't shop from ebay...prefer to buy hardware from where i'am.
I've seen many review on 470,480 and 570 and i think i'm going for 570.
As most people say it's not so hot and where i'am from june to August 40C is
a common temp around here so i don't need more heat.
